Why Beachbody by Emi


This is why Beachbody....the picture on the left is me 6 years ago.  I bought P90X off the television and it had been sitting on my dresser for 9 months.  I finally picked it up and started the 90 day program.  I started as a size 14 and around 170 lbs and lost 40 pounds in 3 months.  My doctor was thrilled but said I had 10-15 more to go and I started the Southbeach diet.....and bought my first really nice bike.  Four months from starting P90X and beginning to bike, I was down to a size 4 and 135 lbs.  I did my first triathlon taking 7th in my age group my first time out and started entering more running and cycling competitions and I haven't looked back.  I also haven't wavered from a size 4.

Through my Beachbody experience, I learned that you can't be holistically healthy with just diet or exercise alone.  You really need both and you need a wide variety of exercise for great overall health.  I don't believe in quick fixes and I don't believe in killing yourself.  Let's be honest, none of us gained a lot of weight overnight and none of us will lose it overnight.  I believe in doing it right....good, healthy food with a few treats here and there and solid exercise--a mix of weights and cardio. I love to ride my road bike and compete in road cycling races and enjoy nice trails and fire roads on my mountain bike as well as hiking and trail running.  In winter, it's cross-country skiing when the weather is just too cold to bike.

I have used P90X religiously over the past 5 years and it put me in the best, fittest shape of my life.  During racing season, I use the weight exercises (chest and back, back and biceps) and plyo.  The ab workout is also phenomenal and I run and bike for cardio other days.  I HATE biking and running inside, even though I have the equipment to do so, but will if weather doesn't permit enjoying the outdoors.  I also get bored and like to change things up occasionally and find Insanity to be great, fun cardio as well as some of the other Beachbody videos.

I am here to help you get fit and get healthy.  If you need to lose weight, great.  I can help you.  If you want to get stronger and faster, I can help you with that too. The goal is to get YOU in the best shape of your life!

Finally, I want to bring you CREDIBILITY.  I'm not just a mom who did a program and became an overnight expert.  I'm a Registered Nurse and I've put a lot of time into learning about good general nutrition as well as sports nutrition. I also have friends here as guest bloggers who are accomplished in their fields.  Kathy  is a marathoner and ultra-marthoner and has run over 20 road marathons, countless races of all distances: 5k’s, half marathons, 50K trail races, and one 50 miler with plans for even greater distances.  Also joining us is MaryAnn, trail runner, road and mountain biker, triathlete and crossfit/yoga instructor who will write about many things cycling as well as other fitness topics to help you develop overall health and wellness.
